Greetings! I am just the hybrid tutor that you are looking for as a web developer with a passion in teaching! My major in college years allowed me to utilize a variety of computer software as a means to create art. I have experience with graphics, web design, animation and even video and audio editing, but my favorite area of specialty is what I do now as a career, web development. In addition, I also love love love to teach! I get excited learning new things, but I get even more excited... [more]
I have been using Adobe Photoshop for 15 years. I work as a Web Designer so Photoshop is a big part of my toolkit I use regularly. I have also been teaching Photoshop to students of all ages ranging from 7 year old kids to retired folks and everything in between.
I majored in computer arts, which included various courses including web design and even also took additional courses to keep up with the current trends during the four years I was working as a full-time developer in a corporate setting. I also worked both freelance for individual clients as well as for marketing agencies throughout the past ten years. I've tutored one-on-one in web and programming classes and I've also taught small groups of kids at a technology camp in subjects including web design and Photoshop.
Dreamweaver was the first program I learned to use for writing HTML when I first took web design courses in college 13 years ago and is my go-to program even today. I started out using the design view in conjunction with the code view, but eventually leaned mainly on the code view. However, the design view has many great features that help a user do the same HTML functions, but quicker and is easier visually. I've taken official Dreamweaver courses and also taught Dreamweaver to students at a technology summer camp so I know my way around very well in this program.
I have been using computers since childhood and have always been fascinated with them. I took every opportunity to explore not just the necessary functions to get to the programs I needed, but I enjoyed learning how to change settings and tweak things. I grew up on a PC, but started on a Mac for work in 2009 and never looked back. I picked up the differences really quickly and now prefer to use Macs for work and personal use. I am well versed with the shortcut keys, settings and functionality and am able to figure out what I don't know.
I've used Microsoft Outlook since seven years ago and have used regular MS Outlook as well as MS Outlook Express and have working experience helping clients troubleshoot their Outlook issues. I've had to set up Outlook as well as configure settings time and time again in various computer setups from Mac to PC and various versions of Outlook as well. I have also used the integrated calendar associated with Outlook and have set options for out of office replies, personal signatures and more.
I grew up since childhood using PC's. I loved everything about computers and was always fascinated with learning more and tweaking things. Once Microsoft Windows came about, I was excited to play with settings and learn how to navigate around. I quickly picked up Microsoft Windows and all the intricacies of settings and where to find things. When I needed to troubleshoot or upgrade my computer, I learned where I needed to go to make those updates and changes and even helped friends when they have computer issues.
Photoshop is my all-time favorite program that I've been using for over 15 years now, but I've enjoyed all kinds of other fun programs such as Illustrator for vector graphics, InDesign for print layout and many other techie programs. While my main job title is "web designer," I also worked on the layout design of the websites I created as well as manipulate graphics and logos for the websites. Once I started my own business, I expanded expanded from merely creating websites to other graphics projects such as logos, business cards, brochures, tshirt designs and more. I not only love learning and using these programs, but I also greatly enjoy teaching and have taught students ranging from elementary school age to retired folks so I'd love to show you how amazing these programs are as well!
I am self-taught in CSS after learning HTML. I started designing and coding from scratch, one simple website each week for a couple years for a job and that boosted my design, HTML and CSS skills. I eventually took a web design course that covered the foundations of HTML and CSS, which solidified my experience with CSS.
