I have been playing piano since I was seven years old. I took formal lessons in classical piano from the ages of seven to fifteen, and was in my High School's piano group throughout all four years. I won the Best Music Student award for the 2010 graduating class. Additionally, I took the NYSSMA exam in piano and received a level 6 proficiency rating (the highest level.) I have not stopped playing piano ever since, and I have a wide range of knowledge on classical music, as well as modern and contemporary pieces. I can also read and write sheet music perfectly.
I was an active member of the club "Women Excelling in Business" during my college career in Accounting. My membership here gave me the skills I need to teach others about the most important facets of career development and professionalism. I worked with fellow club members on their resumes and cover letters as they applied to some of the largest accounting firms in the country. I also took several courses in obtaining my Accounting degree which were geared specifically towards career development and professional writing.
I passed all of my own regents exams with grades 92+. I also was a peer tutor during my own time in High School, specifically in the Physics, Chemistry, English, and Math 1 & 2 regents. Finally, I have tutored two students via private tutoring set up on Craigslist through the latter portions of their high school careers, which included tutoring in the English and Math 1 & 2 regents.
As a teacher certified in both New York State and Colorado-- and having undergone training and teaching in both districts-- I am well aware of Common Core standards in both of these states. I am aware of these standards for students of all grade levels, elementary-high school, and these are the standards I have personally been held to as a classroom teacher.
