Algebra 1

I am approved to teach algebra I via WyzAnt, and I also taught one year of 7th grade pre-algebra in a public school. When I was in 8th grade, I had a wonderful, enthusiastic teacher who gave me a great foundation in using algebra for problem solving. As a result of his teaching, I enjoy the challenge of using algebra to solve real world problems. I hope to pass that on to others, as well.

Biology

I love the study of living things. My undergraduate degree is in Life Science Secondary Education. I taught 7th grade life science for three years before deciding to pursue a master's degree. While attending Stephen F. Austin State University as a graduate student, I worked as a biology tutor in the Academic Assistance and Resource Center at the university. After completing my Master of Science degree in biology in 1991, I also taught general biology and ecology for two years as an interim instructor at Stephen F. Austin. I currently enjoy tutoring biology to students both in person and online.

Grammar

I am approved to tutor grammar via WyZant. I also had a wonderful teacher in high school who gave me a strong foundation in writing and grammar. When I had my first college writing assignment as a freshman, I realized how helpful her instruction was. I would like to be able to pass on some of that to students that I work with.
