Financial theory explorer and question-answerer

I have been tutoring various subjects for almost 9 years, and have tutored for all finance classes at the university level for over 6 years. Course material has included basic time value of money concepts through advanced portfolio theory and investment strategies. My love for tutoring at the undergrad and graduate levels led to the decision to pursue a Ph.D. in finance, which began in 2016. My experience in front of the classroom goes back to high school, when I volunteered for Junior Ach... [more]

Excel is a fundamental part of almost all of my coursework, and even personal research endeavors. I have completed an intensive financial modeling course in Excel through Wall Street Prep, and have helped students with Excel in the business school and other disciplines. I have advanced knowledge of functions and formulas pertinent to building models and analytical assignments.

Finance

I studied finance as an undergrad and achieved top marks in every class. As a student at Duquesne, I took all but 2 of the finance classes offered, and acted as the tutor for undergrad and graduate finance classes from January 2013 through May 2014. I was again the tutor for all finance classes as a graduate assistant, and began a Ph.D. in finance in 2016. Work as an investment analyst at Carnegie Mellon University gave me the opportunity to exercise my competencies in investment finance. I have passed levels I, II, and III of the CFA exam, and may be eligible to use the CFA designation upon completion of the required work experience.

Managerial Accounting

I have taken accounting classes through the intermediate level, and managerial accounting at the undergraduate and graduate level. My preparation for the CFA Level I and II examinations also included intensive accounting material. Topics covered include advanced financial statement preparation and analysis for public corporations, conversion between US GAAP and IFRS, and some minor tax treatments.

Business

I was awarded the 2014 Dominion Scholar Award at Duquesne University. The award is given annually to the one student "who best exemplifies the intellect, character, and business insight needed to succeed in today's economy." I graduated summa cum laude from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2014, and completed my MBA with highest honors in May 2016 before beginning a Ph.D. in finance.

CFA

I have passed all three levels of the CFA program. I passed each level the first time. While I passed the first level while still in college, I passed both subsequent levels during grad school.

Econometrics

I have passed all three levels of the CFA program, which includes intensive econometric sessions in Level II. Ph.D. work in econometrics and statistical theory are the pinnacle of my econometric work. Work in these courses complemented various professional and academic projects utilizing advanced mathematical processes to solve optimization problems, regression models, and decision algorithms.
