I am currently a graduate student at the University of Chicago. I have extensive training in math, physics, and science subjects from my undergraduate and graduate schools. I earned an A grade in high school calculus, and college level calculus I, II and III. I have also taken college level differential equations and linear algebra, and graduate level probability, earning an A in each course.
I am highly qualified to teach study skills. As a graduate student, I have had many years to develop my own personal study skills, and I believe that I can teach others from my own experience. I graduated from undergraduate with a 3.9 GPA, which required the top level of study skills. I also have significant experience teaching children. I worked for two years at the Pacific Science Center - a science museum for children. There, I worked one-on-one and with small groups of children.
I am uniquely qualified to tutor in college counseling, as I myself have recently completed college and graduate school applications, which were highly successful. I have extensive experience writing and revising personal statement for college applications, and have helped mentor students through the college application process and have helped them gain acceptance to highly prestigious universities. I have also worked closely with other college counselors, which has taught me strategies of how to best help students succeed.
I have taken several college-level courses in computer programming, including C++ and Matlab programming languages. I am also in a PhD program for which I write computer programs for science research. I like to focus on programming concepts when tutoring, and break down confusing computer algorithms into simple, understandable pieces.
I use MATLAB every day as part of academic research. I am fluent in writing functions and scripts in MATLAB. I have mentored fellow students in developing MATLAB programs, and have tutored students in MATLAB as well. I have taken college level courses in MATLAB.
