I'm a certified K-6 teacher. I participated in a 2 week math training course. I taught 3rd grade for 2 years, and substitute taught for multiple grade levels.
I received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I am a certified K-6 teacher. I taught 3rd grade for 2 years and substitute taught in multiple grade levels for the last year.
We had a strong focus on phonics in my previous school. I learned how to administer a phonics assessment to determine which skills students needed to learn. I then worked with specific students on a particular phonics skill, until they demonstrated mastery. Students were taught the skill, read real and nonsense words, played games, completed word sorts and read text the skill focus. Students were then given multiple opportunities to practice the skill on an independent level to help maintain mastery.
I was trained on the Common Core Standards while attending college. I taught for 2 years in a school that designed curriculum and lesson plans to meet the rigor of the standards. Lessons included student led discussions, grade level appropriate texts, and a variety of math strategies.
