I have always been the person people come to for help for hard problems. I used to hang around my university's computer labs just to see if anyone needs some help on a hard problem set. This transferred to my career as a researcher when I taught my supervisor how to effectively use R programming and collecting data. I carried this through to my current job as a Data scientist at a charter management organization. Mostly, I want people to be able to understand interesting phenomenon through s... [more]
I have been working as a programmer since 2012. I started by developing applications with Matlab then branched off into R, Python and C++. I developed a number of 6+ month projects for clients like the USDA and multiple universities. I have a package distributed on CRAN which is the package archive for R that goes through a "peer-review" process. Ultimately, I understand how to develop user-facing programs that have to be intuitive to use.
Matlab was my first programming language and I was the main coding resource for my class of chemical engineers. I did my M.S. thesis in Matlab which is now in the review process for a journal article. I wrote a Matlab to R code translator that forced me to understand the language for a variety of applications and purposes.
I developed a few long term (+6 months) projects for Python. I also learned optimization routines and some statistical modeling using python. I also helped undergraduate students with their projects during my graduate degree. I also already tutored someone on college level Python using Wyzant
