Mechanical engineer and math enthusiast

As a fellow student, I get what it's like to be in a class and want some extra help. I recently graduated with my degree in Mechanical Engineering, and I gained plenty of experience along the way, not only with the subject matter, but also with balancing school and life, studying effectively, and finding the best available resources for help. I have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. I have experienced tutoring in engineering subjects from both sides (being the tutor and the ... [more]

Algebra 2

Algebra is one of my favorite subjects to tutor. I currently have 4 years of experience teaching algebra, and I use algebra often as an engineer. I can help you gain confidence with algebra at any level.

As a math tutor, I try to find multiple ways to approach problems to help boost problem solving skills and adapt to different learning needs. I am familiar and comfortable with all levels of middle school and high school math, including Prealgebra, and can help students be more confident with math and even have fun with it!

I have actively studied Spanish for over a decade in school settings as well as home study and immersion. I am fluent in the language and passed the AP Spanish Language exam as a Sophomore. I spent 18 months teaching and serving the Hispanic communities of Arkansas and Tennessee and during that time was responsible for teaching the language to many of my fellow volunteers. I am very familiar with the difficulties of the language and how to grasp difficult grammar context. I love the language and culture and am eager to help anyone, from beginners to anyone wanting to practice speaking and refresh the accent a bit.

I worked for 2 years as a collegiate writing tutor and have experience with academic, creative, and basic journalistic writing. My biggest goal as a writing tutor is to help students improve their writing and their confidence in editing their own work. I am eager to help anybody at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and drafting, to editing and polishing!

I have worked as a peer editor at a university for a year now, and I love proofreading and editing papers. I have taken a training course that focused on helping the writer become a better writer (in addition to helping the paper become the best it can be), along with working with ESL students, group settings, and online conferencing. I have also taken a technical writing course with an emphasis on writing in engineering. I can help you proofread business letters, resumes and CVs, essays, short stories, long stories, poetry, and anything else you're working on writing. I give tons of feedback and help you develop your own writing. I can also share some pointers and insights on how to become a good proofreader.

Mechanical Engineering

I am a recent graduate with an accredited Mechanical Engineering degree and a 3.6 gpa. I have worked three mechanical engineering internships; one with a slight tendency toward manufacturing, one where I spent most of my time in the lab, and the other more on the research and development side of things. I have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. I have experienced tutoring in these subjects from both sides (being the tutor and the tutee) and hope to be able to help you succeed in the demanding classes characteristic of engineering.

I played high-school level lacrosse for two years and was a captain on my team. I have experience with all field positions, especially defense. I love the game and can help develop skills from beginning to intermediate play.

As a mechanical engineer, I have spent a fair amount of time with this software. From starting a simple part, to creating assemblies, to running simulations, and finally creating drawings to get your parts made, I can help you navigate the software and create beautiful, functional models. I have used Solidworks in both educational and professional pursuits and can give you some manufacturing insights to help your make something the best possible way, as well as common practices that will lend to easier editing and collaboration with other engineers, customers, or manufacturing shops.
