As a pianist and music major I have an extensive knowledge of music theory. I have studied music theory for the last twelve years, as long as I have been playing piano. In High school I got a score of five on the AP music theory exam. I also earned a level ten certificate in piano from MTAC which included an advanced theory test. In College I took harmony 1, 2 and 3 and got A's in those classes. These taught me advanced theory including figured bass and voice leading rules.
I am a classically-trained pianist and have taken lessons for more than ten years. I have been teaching piano for a year and a half at Beach Cities Rock Club, a music school in San Clemente. I enjoy playing and teaching many styles of music including classical, rock, pop and jazz. Last year I studied piano with Kirill Gliadkovsky in the Saddleback Applied Music program. I have played in jazz combos and for piano accompaniment. Before Saddleback I studied for seven years with Dr. Judy Huang who received her doctorate from UCLA, and other teachers. In high school I played piano in a number of ensembles including jazz band, chamber music, orchestra and Chapel band. My awards for piano performance include being a winner of the American Fine Arts Festival (2014), for which I played at Carnegie hall. I was also a finalist in the Southern California Junior Bach Festival. I received a level ten Certificate for advanced piano performance and theory from the Music Teacher's Association of California (MTAC). I am currently studying at Saddleback College working towards a music degree.
