I am a patient tutor with 8 years of experience. I started tutoring when I myself was still in high school. I graduated as valedictorian from Jefferson West High School. I am currently working towards my psychology and mathematics degree at the University of Kansas. I have been a tutor for 7 or 8 years. I started tutoring elementary and middle school students in the 7th grade. I continued to tutor throughout high school including becoming a volunteer tutoring for my high school. My specialt... I started tutoring Algebra 1 seven years ago. Algebra is one of my most tutored subjects and one of my favorites. I find that most students struggling with algebra just need the subject explained in a different way. My goal is to explain each concept in multiple different ways, so that the student can figure out which way works best for them. Each algebra problem has multiple ways to get the correct solution, so helping the student find which way makes the most sense to them is my ultimate goal.
I began tutoring Algebra 2 about 6 years ago. I started by tutoring classmates in my Algebra 2 class and have been tutoring the subject ever since.
I have been tutoring Geometry for about 6 years. Geometry is a math subject that took me a little longer to master as it requires a slightly different way of thinking than Algebra. However, the extra time it took me to master made me a better tutor in the subject as I understand the struggle that students are going through when they are not getting the concepts right away. Students struggling in geometry just need a little more time and somebody to explain the concepts in another way or ways, so that they can learn to approach the concepts and problems in the best way for them.
Prealgebra is one of my favorite subjects to tutor. I began tutoring this course about 7 years ago. This course is one of the most important math courses for a student as they are learning the skills they will need to be successful in algebra and geometry. There are generally multiple ways to approach a prealgebra problem, so my tutoring style is to go over each approach. This way the student can learn which approach is best for them.
I took precalculus my second year in high school and have been tutoring the subject ever since. I began helping my peers prepare for quizzes and exams before I decide to start tutoring the subject. I have tutor this subject for 5 years now. Each student looks at a problem in a different way. I find that going over each different approach helps the student get a better grasp on the material and helps them decide which way they prefer.
As a college student, I have taken the ACT within the last 3 or 4 years which means, I have the practical experience behind my knowledge. I have been tutoring English and reading for many years. I love reading and books, tutoring allows me to share my love of reading. My goal as tutor for the ACT is to help the students understand the concepts being tested as well as how to approach the questions on the ACT. I can help the students learn how to approach the Reading portion of the exam.
The ACT is a very important test that as a college student I have had the pleasure of taking within the last few years. I have the experiential knowledge to give students as well as technical knowledge. I have been tutoring English for about 7 years and the ACT for about 2 years.
I have been tutoring math for about 7 years. I have tutored every subject that may be tested on the math portion of the ACT. I also have taken the ACT within the last couple of years and have the experiential knowledge to give as well as my math expertise. I can go over the math concepts, practice questions, and give advice on test taking strategies.
I have been tutoring Elementary Math for about 7 or 8 years. I love tutoring math at the elementary level. The concepts students are learning in elementary math are concepts they will use for the rest of their lives. I like to take each concept and show the student two or three ways to approach the concept, so that each student can learn the best way for them to approach the problems and concepts. I also enjoy making math concepts fun for this age group. Making math fun helps keep the student interested and cultivates the love of math at an early age.
