Business and Technology Trainer

Over the past 12 years, I have been a business professor teaching students about the foundations of business, management, project management, human resources, and information systems. I have been very successful in these classes, and students (every after they graduated) have had no hesitations on asking questions and working with me individually. Beyond the classroom, I have owned two small businesses in which I ran the operations and finances of both, and I have worked in industries such ... [more]

Business

I have taught general business for the last 12 years at the college level, specifically Introduction to Business, Management, Information Systems, Human Resource Management, Project Management, and the business capstone course. I have developed a graduate-level course in Sustainability Project Management and an undergraduate-level course in a business capstone. As an academic dean in the College of Business and Management, I regularly audited content in general and specific business courses. I served as a business content expert in graduate level capstone presentations. I have owned two small businesses, and I have worked in a variety of industries where good business practices were used.

Career Development

I have worked closely with an outplacement service to become an expert on writing and reviewing resumes. As an academic dean, I reviewed resumes weekly and hired professors regularly. As part of my Human Resources teaching, I taught students how to write a resume, look for a job, and interview.

College Counseling

I have spent the last 12 years in higher education, working as a professor and as an academic dean. I worked closely with admissions and the Registrar, helping support the admissions and registration process. I worked closely with students who were considering college at my university to look at their interests and skills to see if they would be a good fit for the university, and whether they would be a good fit for their program. I advised both new and continuing students in these capacities.

Marketing

As a business professor for 12 years, I taught courses in general business, management, and an undergraduate capstone...all of which required an extensive use of marketing. As a small business owner, I created marketing plans and strategic marketing plans for my businesses. As the leader of a number of non-profit organizations, I supported the use of marketing to help promote the organizations.

Microsoft Access

As a business information systems professor, I have formally taught almost all of the MS Office products. I have taught MS Access a number of times, and I have created curriculum based on teaching introductory MS Access to students, including using queries in SQL. In addition, I have created a number of personal databases in MS Access for my own use.

Microsoft Project

As a professor of project management, I taught basic project management concepts to business and IT students. As part of this class, I taught students how to use MS Project to manage different types of projects. Through cases designed specifically for each student, we worked with schedules, constraints, resources, and reporting statuses and assessing progress of projects. In addition, I wrote some curriculum for basic MS Project usage.

Project Management

I have taught project management for the last 10 years at the college level. I have developed a graduate-level course in Sustainability Project Management. I am a member in good standing of the Project Management Institute, and I support their certification of the PMP. I have used good project management practices while leading multi-departmental and multi-location projects to improve processes and implement programs.
