German Language Lessons with goal orientated German Native Speaker

I have given private and small group German as well as English language classes since 1994. This used to be a professional part time side job for me, which I enjoyed as a compliment to my international Art & photography career. Today I am bringing my main attention to Language teaching and enjoy creativity as my side job. ??? I enjoy helping students work towards their language learning goals, helping support confidence building, speaking and listening fluency as well as reading and writing ... [more]

German

I have given private and group German language lessons since I moved to England in 1994. Since then I have worked several terms at British high schools as a German language assistant teacher. In my role I would go through set class material with the students as well as spend one to one periods of time with them to work on strengths and weaknesses in the comprehension, reading, writing and pronunciation. I have helped pupils, school teachers, university students, young adults and business owners with the German language skills. Additionally I have volunteer taught to a group of adult German language learners in Cambodia. I prefer to work on reading, writing, comprehension and conversation and leave grammar learning to the text & work/exercise book approach. I can work with your current course material or provide a range of learning approaches including Art classes in German (for a leisure approach to language learning), Museum visits with German conversation, reading and discussing German literature &/or science or news material; general holiday conversation... etc.. (other potential subjects that we can focus on can be every day conversations, cooking, culture, social sciences, business, art, school, life....)

English

As of 2016 I am considering to begin a second postgraduate degree in English Literature (my first Masters Degree is in Fine Art) and am currently waiting to hear back from funding options. If I can pay for it then I will begin my studies in October. I have spend several months in Italy, taking over maternity cover for my English language teaching friend. Part of my duty was to retain all her private students, so that she would not lose them. I mainly gave private language lessons to school children, business owners, a lawyer, an retirees. I had two students under the age of 7. All students (& parents) were pleased with their learning progress. The school children attended international school and needed help with their homework, which was entirely in English. My class preparation would vary with each child, depending on the homework that they had to accomplish. I would create drawings with them to explain what a mollusc (british) mollusk (US) is, or help illustrate the history of the Roman empire. We would do reading and writing practice and spellcheck and vocabulary learning. The business owners and lawyer needed work related vocabulary and conversational practice to help them speak with clients confidently. I had to prepare each lesson with specific language and content requirements. These students often were not too interested in structured grammar practices and more focused on speaking confidently. The retirees wanted to learn English for leisure use and enjoyed working with a workbook and supporting material I selected additionally.
