Young Professional Engineer For Math & Science Tutoring

I have hundreds of hours of tutoring and coaching experience. I graduated in the top 5% of my high school class. My strongest subjects are math and science (the reason I chose to pursue engineering in college and after), however, I know that's not always the case. I would love to help you become confident in any Math through Calculus. I have been working in the civil engineering industry for over 3 years, in project management and land development firms. I do work full-time and only tutor on ... [more]

Algebra 1

I coached a homeschool student in Algebra I, for over 100 hours. The lessons and coursework were provided, and we worked through them together. I provided extra practice problems and solutions as needed. The student became faster, improved their grades, and gained confidence. I also tutored 2 other public school students on a regular basis.

Algebra 2

I have the most experience tutoring in Algebra I, which makes me a great tutor for Algebra 2 since you need a great foundation in topics like inequalities, graphing, and factoring. I'm currently tutoring a couple students in Algebra 2. One student who just needs that extra weekly support, and another student in the Gifted & Talented program.

Biology

Calculus

I regularly worked with a high school AP Calculus AB student. She is normally a straight A student and was really struggling in just this class. We worked together to get her quarter grades from a D, to a C, and finally up to a B!

Geometry

I've regularly worked with 6 different students in Geometry. Two of my students were B students looking to get their grades back up to A's. In just one quarter, they already did that. My students always saw improved performance in quizzes and tests if we recently had a lesson.

Microsoft PowerPoint

Prealgebra

I have the most experience tutoring Algebra I, which makes me a great tutor for PreAlgebra as well. I've tutored a couple students in PreAlgebra so far - one struggling, and one looking to get ahead. I'm familiar with both common core and non-common core curriculum.

SAT Math

I've tutored one student in the SAT Math, Writing, and Optional Essay sections of the test, in order to prepare her to take the SAT for the first time. We used the official SAT prep book, as well as worksheets and materials that I sourced. We discussed the material concepts, as well as study skills and test taking strategy. I provided tailored homework for her after each lesson to keep moving at a faster pace.

ASVAB

I've tutored 3 students in ASVAB test prep for the Mathematics Knowledge and Arithmetic Reasoning sections. We typically worked through ASVAB practice problems and the official ASVAB prep book. We discuss the Algebra and Geometry concepts, as well as study skills and test taking strategy.

General Music

As a flute player of 8 years, I have a lot of first-hand music knowledge. I would be able to teach someone how to read music and understand concepts like tempo, rhythm, scales, etc. I could help someone practice a piece of music, or learn it for the first time, no matter what instrument they are playing.

AutoCAD

I helped a student to complete their community college AutoCAD class assignments, as well as increase his business' drafting efficiency. I've also worked with interior design beginners, and an irrigation designer. I have been using AutoCAD professionally as a civil engineer for 2 years in the workplace. I have used AutoCAD in order to complete university projects, and I continue to train my AutoCAD skills in a classroom format or through online forums.

Career Development

I worked at my college's engineering career center as a paid peer resource. My duties included critiquing cover letters and resumes, and giving advice for networking, researching companies, using LinkedIn, applying to jobs, interviewing, and navigating career fairs. I'm best suited to help freshman and sophomore level engineering majors, and any undergrad civil engineering major. I also have my own personal experience, 3+ summer internships at different companies, to help someone looking to further their career. Professionally, I've been at the same company for over two years. I can also provide general guidance for entry level engineers, like salary negotiation, etc.

Microsoft Outlook

I've been using Microsoft outlook professionally in the workplace for 4 years now, and recently chose to make it my default email client on my own personal computer. I am very familiar with most applications of the program, including calendar, to-do list, task list, sending/replying emails, automatic replies, adding/organizing folders, managing rules, managing account/server settings, using categories, searching, sorting, and toggling the view displays. I do not hesitate to assist my coworkers with any outlook questions they have, and I often reach out to our IT department in order to better manage my outlook experience or learn something new.

Microsoft Windows

I've used Microsoft Windows all of my life, as a student and professionally in the workplace. I am very familiar with navigating everyday tasks, such as using windows explorer, connecting to wifi, installing software, searching for programs/files, connecting to external devices. I would be very comfortable helping someone use a windows OS for the first time, or helping a regular Mac user become more comfortable with it.

Civil Engineering

I am a current civil engineering student at an ABET accredited university. I have been working in the civil engineering industry for over 3 years, in project management and land development firms. I have a well-rounded education, including a completed minor in international engineering, and I've taken many civil engineering courses outside of my concentration. I think that I would make a great tutor because I offer the best of both worlds - academic and professional perspective, something I wish I had more of in my engineering beginnings!

Architecture

In my work as a civil engineer, I'm familiar with architectural plan sets, and using AutoCAD to draw architecture plans. Similarly I'm familiar with landscape architecture. I've tutored 2 interior design students, and they have also given me exposure to interior design applications.

Project Management

I am a civil engineering student in the project management track, so I've taken multiple courses such as communication, project cost accounting, scheduling, and introduction to project management. I have experience working as an intern for a general contracting company in the field doing project management work, for 8 months. I also have over 2 years of experience in technical design at a consulting firm.

Homeschool

I coached a homeschool student in Algebra I, for over 100 hours. The lessons and coursework were provided, and we worked through them together. I provided extra practice problems and solutions as needed. The student became faster, improved their grades, and gained confidence. I would be comfortable working with any Homeschool student in my approved subjects, as long as there was a lesson plan or course guide/timeline provided.
