I have been doing sign language for over 25 years. I interpreted in a public school for a year, taught deaf students for three years, currently interpret freelance for Portland Public Schools, and my husband is deaf.
Hard of Hearing
My background is in deaf education. I have a Master's degree in deaf and hard of hearing studies from Lewis and Clark College. I taught three years at two different residential schools in the Middle School department.
I have been teaching my own children (18, 16, and 12) for all or most of their educational careers. I have extensive experience with learning styles since my oldest was diagnosed with learning disabilities and ADHD. I got my masters degree in deaf and hard of hearing studies and have been working in various co ops and homeschool groups since my children started school. I have a broad knowledge of curriculum and websites available to facilitate learning for the homeschooled student.
