Hello world! I have taught guitar and piano on and off for the past few years, I also had a job at Mathnasium teaching chess. I love teaching people to create art and helping them with their artistic vision. The transference of knowledge is a really cool experience that I really enjoy. I studied music theory at Gray School of Music and I took an AP Music Theory course at Highland Park High School. I understand solfege and can read music proficiently. An important part of music theory is not just understanding it, but using it for intrinsic reasons.
I have lots of time and experience with various instruments, such as guitar, bass, piano, alto saxophone, percussion, etc. I've studied at Gray School of Music, School of Rock, private lessons, Highland Park Middle and High School.
I studied guitar mainly with Ryan Fitzgerald (ex-guitarist for The Polyphonic Spree) and Marcelo Berestovoy, guitar instructor at Musician?s Institute. I understand music with or without theory so I'm able to accommodate to the student's needs. I play guitar in a kind of crazy way (percussive guitar, like Michael Hedges or Andy McKee), but I also play blues, jazz, classical, country, rock, funk, metal, etc.
I began studying piano with Dr. Fabiana Claure when I was 8 years old. I went on to study at Gray School of Music for several years with various instructors. I believe piano is an essential instrument in the understanding of music.
