I am an upperclassman Mechanical Engineering and Physics major at TCU, with research interests in Semiconductor Materials and Plasma Physics. I have a passion for STEM education. I have participated in multiple research opportunities on campus--from cancer drug manufacturing research with an esteemed Welch Chair to industry-contracted materials research for Lockheed Martin. In Spring 2013, I won the Engineering Department award at the Student Research Symposium for my work, and soon after som... [more]
10+ years of SAT/ACT tutoring experience ACT Score: 34 SAT Score: 2280. I've heard people say that the best way to learn is to teach. I embrace this idea in my approach to tutoring, where I have the student walk me through what they understand, so together we can explore what they don't. This positive approach allows the student to see how much knowledge they actually already have at their disposal. It encourages the student and gives them the confidence they need approaching their coursework. My job is to give students the tools necessary to be able to understand, analyze, and work through problems on their own.
ACT: 34/36 SAT:2280/2400 New SAT: 1530/1600 equivalent I have tutored in Test Prep for over 6 years. While I scored in the 98th percentile on my own exam, I have spent the last few years helping students reach their goals too. I average +230/+5 points for over 30 hours of tutoring. Along with SAT and ACT tutoring, I work with the student to assess their college aspirations to give them clear goals- both ultimate goals and benchmark goals during our time together.
I completed this course with an A+ when I first entered college, the only student in the course to do so in two semesters. Since then, I have spent over four years tutoring this subject and consider it one of my specialties. I have gone on to take advanced/partial differential equations and have used applied differential equations in my quantum mechanics courses, so I feel very comfortable describing the subject in real-world problems. I have had many students go from failing to making A's and B's on final exams with my help.
I currently work as a Structural Designer in an engineering firm, so I work with AutoCAD everyday. I have 3+ years professionally using the software, and have tutoring engineering students in it and Autodesk Inventor for about 6 years. I have even developed a three week training program for my firm for new employees to get familiar with the software.
I am working on completing my degree in Mechanical Engineering, but along the way I did pursue an electrical engineering degree. I covered 5 semesters worth of electrical material, and I have been tutoring freshman and sophomore level courses for over six years. I specialize in digital logic and Circuits 1-3. Tutoring engineering is my passion, because I really make a difference in these students futures. I have had continued success tutoring students in these areas.
I work at a structural engineering firm, and am working on completing my degree in Mechanical Engineering. I made mostly A's in the courses, and have continued learning the subjects better after the course is finished. I have been tutoring freshman and sophomore level courses for over six years, with a hundred percent satisfaction rate of my students. Tutoring engineering is my passion, because I really make a difference in these students futures.
