I studied Spanish all through middle and high school as well as in college. I then studied abroad for over 6 months living in Madrid where I really became proficient in conversational Spanish. Given I am not a native speaker and class-room taught with the exception of my time abroad, the ideal student would be someone requiring tutoring at a beginner or intermediate level of Spanish. I'd be happy to help tutor any students who are struggling with the basics of the language (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, etc.) and/or at a conversational level. Languages are a passion of mine and I hope I can bring that to our tutoring sessions!
As a speech-language pathologist that works in NYC city schools with students with disabilities, many of the students I encounter are ESL students. As such the techniques that I use to teach and support all of my students are very similar to those used for ESL students. In addition, I am an English as a Second Learner myself which makes it much easier for me to relate with those learning a new language. I'd be happy to help you improve your English based on your specific needs upon speaking further. Looking forward to connecting and answering any questions you may have.
Farsi is my native tongue. It's the very first language I grew up speaking prior to beginning to learn English at age 6. I continued to speak Farsi at home as a child and still do both with immediate family and extended family abroad when I go visit. I was also homeschooled by my mother (a school teacher) on reading and writing Farsi during my childhood.
I received my masters degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from New York University in January of 2012. Since then I am a state certified speech-language pathologist and a member of ASHA, our national organization. I have my Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC). I work as a speech provider for two high schools in New York City and also work as a speech-therapist with private clients. My official credentials are M.S., CCC-SLP, and TSSLD.
