Let's start with why I love tutoring. The most important reason is that my life experiences have taught me that almost nothing is beyond anyone's grasp, as long as they truly desire to learn it and have a teacher who believes in them. I enjoy being that teacher. I have been teaching and tutoring in some fashion for over 30 years, starting with being a Calculus tutor for undergraduates when I was in graduate school. I have been the math teacher at 2 charter high schools, covering everythin... [more]
I have taught Algebra and a variety of other math subjects at the High School level. I also have over 10 years experience with teaching Business Math and Economics at the college level. Algebra is at the core of of the analytical tools in all of these topics. Finally, I spent over 11 years in Banking and Insurance using Algebra, Calculus, and Statistics in real world application to perform the essential calculations which allow these industries to manage risk and achieve profitability.
Taught a wide variety of business subjects as Associate Faculty in the Business Department at Mohave Community College, 2001 through 2013; subjects were Business Communications, Business Ethics, Business Math, Supervisory Techniques, Principles of Management, and Business English. I was also a Purchasing Manager at Procter & Gamble for 5 years, was a manager at Aetna Life & Casualty for 6 years, and I owned and operated my own vending business for 2 years. I have experience as a Consultant as well.
I have over 3 years' experience developing MS Access databases for banks. I started my own LLC to develop and market a database providing a dashboard approach to developing and implementing loan portfolio quality calculations for community banks. I also developed, implemented, and maintained multi-user (20+ users) Front-End/Back-End MS Access database system which was used by a major Wall Street commercial bank to operate their internal loan review function. The loan quality package I developed for community banks was used on an operational basis by 2 banks for about 2 years, and on a beta basis with 1 other. The accounting rules governing these calculations are undergoing change, and at present I have not decided to invest the time in re-coding my software to remain current. If necessary, I can email screen shots of various elements of these systems.
