Hi, with just over 30 years experience in design and marketing communications, I have spent 20 of those years providing creative design solutions for many corporations, institutions and organizations in the Metro Atlanta market. My creative experience ranges from print to broadcast and has included positions from Production Artist through Creative Director. I have tutored graphic design students from SCAD, Art Institute, as well as mentoring and assisting students at Georgia State University,... [more]
I have at least 20 years experience with word processing and specifically MS Word. I have used it professionally as a graphic designer and presentation specialist for major corporations as well as academically for research and my own papers.
I have 20 plus years using MS Office in business, educational and personal use. Several years using MS Office while as a designer and document specialist for companies like Ernst & Young, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC and others and as a research assistant for a behavioral scientist at Shepherd Center doing medical research in secondary injuries after spinal cord injury. 4 years using it to create documents and research papers while at university.
30 plus years in graphic design. Extensive experience with Adobe Photoshop and the Creative Suite/Cloud.
30 plus years in graphic design and have been using Adobe Illustrator since it was introduced as well as from its Streamline days before Adobe made it part if the CS2 package.
Since Elementary school through high school I was a member of the AV club and film clubs and won county for a student film in 1985. During that time, I also worked in live and recorded television from 1984 to 1987 at Storer Cable in Hudson, Florida, initially as an intern and then as a paid employee. Over the years I continued to work in radio and television while as a Creative for small ad agencies, and I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in film from Georgia State University in 2015 when I went back to finish my degree.
I've been using Adobe InDesign professionally since it became available as part of the Adobe Creative Suite package in the late 90s and early 2000s. Up until then I used PageMaker, Quark, and Corel Suite (which often had many features to be found in later versions of Abobe Suite, such as Art Boards, pagination, etc). I typically use it for multi-page projects (books, catalogs, brochures, etc) but also for more text intensive single page projects as necessary, because its text/paragraph management/processing is more robust than Illustrator. It is also most useful for collecting files for archiving when a project is complete.
I have over 30 years experience in advertising and design communications with achievements in art direction, brand/identity, product development, audio/visual production, broadcasting, outdoor, and print. As a designer and creative consultant, I use desktop publishing tools and software to achieve many of my work goals and most of the end product, yet most of it begins with conceptual designs and ideas that start out as doodles and sketches known as thumbnails. Sometimes, it is at that stage when you decide to move forward in the digital realm or analog. I began my career doing everything by hand, until computers were introduced to me in the mid 80s and I saw their potential for improving or aiding in the design process.
I am a creative professional with just over 30 years experience and have utilized the Macintosh line of computers since the 80s. I am well versed in interfacing, using and some troubleshooting the macintosh system. I have personally used Macintosh computers in my own work for well over 20 years and have often helped others learn to make the switch or at least be comfortable in using both PC and Mac operating systems.
As a specialist in graphic design and marketing communications, I have often worked in desktop publishing helping major corporations convert files for print service and and digital outlets/websites. As MS oFfice is one of the leading and primary applications used in the corporate arena, I have to know how best to maximize those apps and my skills to serve the needs of the client, often on tight and limited deadlines. Microsoft publisher is one of the applications often used by corporate clients that is not a file type used or desired by most print services and I often had to export and convert to appropriate file types used by these services. Small business, organizations, educational facilities and churches/religious organizations often use MS Publisher to handle day to day desktop publishing needs but often require assistance in outputting, converting and disseminating the files and I have been called upon to assist to that end.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgia State University with a BA in communications majoring in Film & Video. I am currently applying for grad school at GSU by invitation of several of my professors. I Worked in local television in the Tampa Bay area in the mid 80s and have produced TV commercials for local and regional clients. I have produced content for GPB as part of GSUTV and continue to work on student films as well as developing new content for digital streaming.
I've been an electronic composer for nearly 35 years, and am self taught, though I've had theory classes in high school and college. I've helped friends and students learn to use sequencing software and DAWs to help them achieve their ideas and compositions. I worked for a while at Guitar Center in Atlanta in their Keyboard department, and would often help people save money by buying things they could afford, using tools that would achieve their goals and then some. I use these skills for sound design and editing in video production and scoring. While at GSU I helped fellow students in the computer labs learn to use Garage Band, Reason and other sequencing and composition tools.
I have over 30 years experience as a graphic designer, art director and creative director focusing in print and broadcast. I have tutored students from SCAD, Atlanta College of Art and the Art Institute. While at GSU, I worked for the university as a graphic designer in their Career Services department and mentored other students while providing design and marketing services to the department.
