Computer Science Teacher - Elementary to HS

I am a high school computer science teacher. I have been teaching for 7 years and I love working with young people. I have two young daughters that greet me with screams of joy every time I come home from work. In my free time, I enjoy taking my children out to experience new places like the beach and mountains. Web Design

I have taught a Web Development class that teaching students how to create the front-end of a web application using HTML/CSS and the Responsive boilerplate. Design of websites constitutes a large portion of this curriculum.


Computer Programming

I have a BS in Computer Science. I have been teaching various computer science classes at the high school level since 2007 which include introductory JavaScript, Python, and Java courses. I have been running a summer coding camp that teaches computer science to young children using block programming.

I have been using Microsoft Windows since 1997. I feel comfortable teaching a new comer the various functionalities of Windows. I am adept at the various configurations that are available on the platform.


PHP

I have taught a Web Development class that teaches students how to create a database-driven web application. The front-end of a web application uses HTML/CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript. The back-end uses PHP and mySQL. The project was built on a mac using Aptana, Xampp, and SequelPro.


Python

I am currently teaching a class that uses Python to teach computer science fundamentals. We use Python to create various programs including a Guessing Game, Chatbot, and various 2D video games. Python is a language that I am very familiar with.


JavaScript

I teach a class using the material found on CodeHS, which uses Javascript. I have also taught a Web Development course that used Javascript extensively to manipulate elements of webpages. Javascript is also used in Full-stack Development curriculum that I designed.


Computer Gaming

I currently teach a beginners class which uses the Python language. The second half of the class uses the module Pygame to create 2D games. I use a set of tutorials that guide students through the construction of 3 games: Pong, Density, and Raiden. Once the fundamentals are covered, students create games of their own design.
