Biomedical Engineer at Vanderbilt

I am an undergraduate student working towards my Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University. I attended Troy High School in Fullerton, California and was a participant of the computer science track in the nationally distinguished Troy Tech Specialized Secondary Magnet Program in Math, Science, and Technology. I have previous experience tutoring students from the elementary school to high school level, in a multitude of subjects, although primarily in STEM courses. In addit... [more]

Chinese

I was born in Taipei, Taiwan and grew up in a dominantly Chinese neighbourhood in the Los Angeles suburbs. I speak Chinese (or Mandarin) conversationally fluently and can write both Traditional and Simplified Chinese using hanyu pinyin (or simply pinyin) and zhuyin fuhao (or colloquially bopomofo), although I am more well-versed in Traditional characters. In addition to the two more popular systems, I am familiar with the Wade-Giles system and stroke orders. For the last two decades, I have gone back to Taiwan every summer and have even taught middle-school English in MiaoLi county, as well as taken college courses at the Taipei Medical University.

Computer Programming

I tested into my high school's nationally distinguished magnet program, the Troy Tech Specialized Secondary Magnet Program in Math, Science, and Technology, and enrolled in the computer science track. Although I programmed mainly in Java in class, I programmed in C++, HTML and CSS, and Python outside of school. I have created iOS apps and managed a website for a state-wide organization. I have also tutored at afterschools in AP Computer Science A and elementary students in navigating Scratch. Now that I am in college, I use Mathematica and Matlab more often for engineering-related programming.
