Hi everyone! My name's Chelsea, and I'm a master's graduate with a degree in Sociology. My undergraduate degrees were in Political Science and Spanish. I have extensive experience as a Teaching Assistant for college students and have experience with elementary-high school age students as well. What I love about tutoring is helping students gain confidence in a subject, and sharing my passion for learning. I am open to working with students on anything from one-time projects, to long-term tuto... [more]
As a high school student I took AP Spanish Language and earned a perfect 5 on the exam, in part due to the level of fluency I attained while studying abroad in Spain after my freshman year of high school. I have been a volunteer interpreter for years for various programs, and earned my BA in Spanish from San Diego State. Grammar (especially for beginning students) is one of my special areas of focus.
I have extensive experience grading essays for both content and formatting due to my previous work as a Teaching Assistant. I have also always been my friends' go-to when it comes to editing anything from graduate thesis proposals, to scholarship essays, to r?sum?s.
Personally, I have experience applying to undergraduate and graduate programs. I was accepted into all three master's programs I applied to: University of Southern California, San Diego State University, and Arizona State University. I also have extensive experience helping students and friends write, brainstorm, and edit personal statements and scholarship essays.
I have an MA degree in Sociology and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. I have also been the TA for undergraduate Sociology courses.
I have a master's on Sociology which has included taking coursework in Deviance. As a college student, I volunteered at a school for juveniles who were currently on probation and had a diagnosed mental health disorder. I also have over five years of experience volunteering for a juvenile justice diversion program, working with youth who have been arrested for first-time misdemeanor offenses. As a graduate student I wrote about the efficacy of juvenile diversion programs such as this.
I have a BA in Political Science from San Diego State University. I also worked as an intern on a mayoral campaign in one of the largest cities in the United States.
