Study Skills

Writing

I'm passionate about helping students become better writers. In addition to publications and a lifetime devoted to writing, my experience includes teaching writing at the University of Michigan. I've led workshops, mentored one-on-one, coached through successful admissions essays, and everything in-between.

English

I have a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and have taught courses in a wide variety of humanities/literature topics at the college level, including English. I've led writing workshops, moderated discussions, published papers, and given individual mentoring in these subjects. I have deep experience with and passion for helping students in English, writing, and literature.

ESL/ESOL

SAT Math

Although my graduate education focused on languages and literature, I attended a magnet school for math, science, and technology in high school. The school drew a handful of students from each of six surrounding school districts on the basis of ability and achievement and offered a rigorous math and science curriculum. More importantly, I am an experienced educator and have never scored below the 99th percentile on a standardized exam. I can help with the content knowledge as well as the strategies that build confidence and boost scores.
