Hello! My name is Ben, and I am a recent graduate from a master's program in geochemistry at Harvard, and I have my bachelor's degree in music from Amherst College (quite the combination, eh?). I grew up in Texas, where I played violin and composed for many years. I'm looking to teach and tutor in a variety of subjects, and can help you with anything from music theory and violin to advanced mathematics. I have been a violinist for nearly 20 years, and took weekly lessons from first grade until graduating high school. I have played in numerous chamber groups, string and symphony orchestras, and have also held several leadership positions such as principal and concertmaster.
I was the head teaching fellow for a differential equations course at Harvard last semester. I handled administration and organization for approximately 70 students. In addition, I taught 15-20 in a weekly recitation session and office hours. I had previously taken the same course as a student.
I took a graduate-level course in linear algebra during grad school. I have multiple semesters experience using Matlab software. I also used linear algebra concepts extensively in differential equations, which I taught as a teaching fellow last semester.
