I am a 2010 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I earned a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering. Since then, I have spent most of my time as a management consultant to engineering companies, but have also worked as a mathematics instructor and volunteered for a Battlebot engineering team. During high school and college, I worked as a private tutor of mathematics, physics, and English for local students from age 14-22. While job-searching after graduation... [more]
The problem-solving methods that helped me succeed while studying engineering were also very useful for standardized tests. I love finding new approaches to problems, and my students benefit from finding the approach that works best for them.
I studied GRE materials extensively before applying to graduate schools. Students would benefit from my rigorous preparation; my test-taking strategies and focus on specific concepts worked extremely well for me, and I am confident that a similarly structured plan would be rewarding for others, too.
I worked with many elementary math students while working as an instructor after college, individually and in groups of up to four. I enjoyed finding the best approach for each student so that the math made sense to them, and had great results with all regular students.
I have completed undergraduate and graduate coursework in linear algebra as part of my study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Additionally, I have applied linear algebra techniques as part of graduate engineering courses in control theory.
I have four years of experience as a management consultant for major engineering companies, and most of my work was focused on project management. During my work, I studied for the PMP (Program Management Professional) exam using the PMBOK (Program Management Body of Knowledge) textbook, and am familiar with many program management methods. As a consultant, I mentored several new hires and taught project management principles as they applied to real-world scenarios at their clients. I am also part of the world's first class of students to earn a free online MBA through Smartly, an extremely selective online platform. Part of my MBA coursework included project management, which reinforced my existing knowledge.
