I have been involved with the Association of Teachers of English Grammar, and have focused on composition studies for years, with the framework of Francis Christensen's analysis of sentences and paragraphs, carried on by Don Stewart. I treat grammar largely as descriptive, and as dependent on the context and genre. Grammar instruction is best done in the context of student writing.

I studied Chaucer in my literature year at St. John's Graduate Institute, and for a local college alumni seminar. I have passed the Wyzant qualification for SAT Reading, and have experience scoring essays for the ETS. I have taught high school English for 25 years.
