A fun, knowledgeable college student with lots of experience abroad!

Hey, everyone! My name is Adam, I am 21 and I just finished my junior year at Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, NC). I am a native of Richmond, VA and graduated Trinity Episcopal School in 2014 with a full IB diploma. I am pursuing a double major at Wake in (1) French Studies and (2) Political Science & International Affairs. I am currently a French tutor at school, where I assist lower level French students in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and literature. I am also a Study Abroad ... [more]

French

French language and culture is my true passion in both academia and day to day life. I founded the French Club at Wake Forest during my Sophomore year, which is a club open to all students regardless of their knowledge of the language or their participation in a French course at the school. The French Club at Wake loves to share cuisine, music, movies and other media, and current events with our members to turn them into knowledgeable Francophiles! Thus, I have a ton of experience engaging students in topics related to French language and culture. I have nearly completed the French major at Wake Forest, and have achieved a C1 level of French according to the European Union?s Framework for Language Acquisition, which qualifies me to attend a French University, should I like. Having spent more than 6 months abroad between high school and college, I have a large amount of personal experience for those looking to visit and/or travel in France, far beyond just language skills. For example, did you know that you almost always have to pay to use public restrooms in France? Or that there?s rarely public water fountains there? Do you know how to use the Paris metro or French national train system (SNCF)? Or that you typically aren?t expected to tip at French restaurants, because the way servers are paid is not like in the US? This is the kind of advice that you can only gain from those who have been there. Complementing this knowledge with my advanced language skills, I can provide a superior level of preparation for those looking to visit France or a Francophone country (such as Switzerland or Belgium), especially in Europe.

Music Production

I?m a passionate music listener and critic. In high school I took a studio music production class in which I became proficient in the Apple program Garageband, creating my own basic tracks from scratch. In college, I have joined the official student run radio group, through which I host my own weekly radio show, using various kinds of studio hardware and software. On my own, I mix music using the Serato DJ software. I have created mixes for the campus hip-hop crew as well as more typical parties or philanthropy events.
