Hello, I am Edward. I am a native Californian who was a career naval officer and an inveterate entrepreneur. I have an undergraduate degree in finance, a master's in international relations, and a doctorate in (international) planning and development. Government & Politics

I am a native Californian who was a career naval officer and an inveterate entrepreneur. I have an undergraduate degree in finance, a master?s in international relations, and a doctorate in (international) planning and development. In both my master?s and doctoral-level degrees (both of which could be considered as subsets of political science), I developed a broad understanding of political theory?and?philosophy, civics,?comparative politics, political institutions, political behavior, political economy, international relations,?public administration, and public policy?with a strong interest in the distribution of power and resources. Further, with a keen interest in US and international systems of government and their interactions, I lived in the Washington, DC, area and was exposed by observation and practice in the operation of the US government and its relations with other sovereign states. I also conducted cooperative international programs on behalf of the US government. I am very familiar with presidential and governmental decision making, from practical experience to a sound knowledge of the literature. As a result of the foregoing, and many years of direct involvement in the operation of the US government, I am familiar with those aspects of social sciences and humanities that provide and promote civic competence and the manner in which students can develop the ability to make well-reasoned and informed decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally-diverse, democratic society in an increasingly complex and interdependent world.

Finance

I have an undergraduate degree in finance, a master?s in international relations, and a doctorate in (international) planning and development. I have remained a student of finance in all disciplines and have remained current in the field of private and public-sector finance. Further, I have started, bought, and sold companies on my own behalf and have been directly involved in the practical aspect of taking a company public and raising funds to finance the efforts.

Business

I am a native Californian who was a career naval officer and an inveterate entrepreneur. I have an undergraduate degree in finance, a master?s in international relations, and a doctorate in (international) planning and development. I am well into my second career as an entrepreneur. I have started and bought and sold companies over the past 25 years and am actively pursuing development of concepts and companies at this time?across the international market. I am experienced in concept development, marketing, financing, accounting, and management. I know the literature, but I am a hands-on businessman who is experienced in all aspects of business?from a real, pragmatic perspective.?

QuickBooks

I am very familiar with QuickBooks and accounting for profit and non-profit-oriented companies and currently perform those functions for active companies. I am an entrepreneur, having started, bought, and sold companies over the past 25 years and, even as the CEO, I have acted as the chief accountant for all of them. I am well versed in formal accounting principles and, at one time, considered taking the CPA exam. QuickBooks is easy to learn and will reinforce any formal study of accounting that you may have had.

Social Studies

I have an undergraduate degree in finance, a master?s in international relations, and a doctorate in (international) planning and development. As a result of formal education and many years of direct involvement in the operation of the US government, I am familiar with those aspects of social sciences and humanities that provide and promote civic competence and the manner in which students can develop the ability to make well-reasoned and informed decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally-diverse, democratic society in an increasingly complex and interdependent world. Examples of my involvement in topical issues, both domestic and international can be seen upon request.

Political Science

I have an undergraduate degree in finance, a master?s in international relations, and a doctorate in (international) planning and development. In both my master?s and doctoral-level degrees (both of which could be considered as subsets of political science), I developed a broad understanding of political theory?and?philosophy, civics,?comparative politics, political institutions, political behavior, political economy, international relations,?public administration, and public policy?with a strong interest in the distribution of power and resources.
