Chemistry

While attending boarding school, I was chosen for a competitive internship with the chemistry department. I was in charge of the laboratory (preparing solutions for lab, assisting during lab, taking inventory, and more); I tutored the high school chemistry students; I wrote and graded certain exams for the high school chemistry class; I assigned final grades (pending teacher approval); and in the absence of the teacher, I would teach the high school chemistry class. I did this while taking my second semester of college chemistry, which I got an A in for both semesters. During the summers while I was in college, I tutored chemistry students in both structured and private setting. Many people have trouble with chemistry but in my opinion, many teachers do not know how to teach chemistry; It is actually a fun and interesting subject.

SAT Math

I received a 99th percentile score in SAT Math when I took the SAT in 2010. I attended the University of Rochester and completed a concentration in math. I have tutored math students in various capacities, both in structured and private settings. I have helped increase students scores from the 500s to the high 700s.

LSAT

I have studied the LSAT for the last 8-9 months and am taking the September exam (postponed due to Irma). On my practice tests, I consistently get 98-99th percentile scores with a high of 177. My strengths are logical reasoning and analytical reasoning (logic games). I know many strategies to help you improve your score, and especially if you have not studied for very long yet, I can give you tons of great resources and tips so you can maximize your efficiency and potential.

Macroeconomics

I received my BA from the University of Rochester in economics. The University of Rochester has a unique program that does not require general education courses. This allowed me to delve deeper in to my economics study. I have a firm grasp of microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts, and I am also knowledgeable about game theory and the history of economic thought. I have been tutoring since 2009 so I understand how to present material so that it can be retained and abstracted.

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for 10 years and I play mostly rock and blues music. I have given lessons to beginner students before. I am self taught and I can't read music but I know a good deal of music theory (scales, modes, arpeggios, etc.) and I can read tabs.

College Counseling

I am very knowledgeable about admissions processes, how the different components of an application fit together, individual schools, and your likelihood of admission. I have first hand experience and insight to share as well as tons of second hand knowledge from friends, family, and research. SAT is the biggest factor in undergraduate admissions, followed by GPA, academic rigor, essays, and extracurriculars, respectively. I can also help point you to resources to improve your application, such as SAT tutors that focus on certain sections or people to help review your application essays.
