MIT graduate and expert math, science and language tutor

I can help you master math, science and other areas with confidence. My background: MSEE/BSEE from MIT, MBA UC Davis, 30+ years in high-tech, 10+ years tutoring and teaching at an online school. I currently tutor middle-school, high-school and college students in these subjects: Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Integrated Math, Trigonometry, Statistics, Probability, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, Astronomy, Electrical Engineering, US History, Spanish 1 and 2, Writing. ... [more]

Algebra 1

I have tutored numerous students in Algebra 1 for many years. My focus is on helping my students understand key concepts, and know how to solve problems. I orient my approach to the individual needs of each student, and look for ways to make the lessons interesting and relevant to them.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is one of my favorite subjects because it teaches students methods for dealing with complex problems. Many students find these challenging, even overwhelming, however with just a little insight, confidence and practice these can be easily conquered - the lessons learned can be applied to any challenging area of life.

American History

For the past 12 years I have taught and tutored students in US History at an online school, and it is one of my favorite subjects. I think it is essential that every student who lives in the US has an accurate and complete knowledge of this country's history so that they can be better and more well-informed citizens.

Chemistry

I have taught and tutored chemistry for last 12 years.

Geometry

German

Physics

I have taught and tutored Physics for the last 12 years. I have MSEE and BSEE degrees from MIT.

Prealgebra

Spanish

Trigonometry

Trigonometry gets students to think about math from a whole new angle - from the perspective of a circle instead of the square grid used in Algebra - and is the foundation for architecture, civil and electrical engineering. Sines and cosines are expressions of complex exponential functions which are the core of calculus. A thorough understanding of trigonometry is vital to any student moving into these fields.

Astronomy

Statistics

I have used statistics many times in my career as an engineer, I have also taught and tutored statistics in an online school, and also have a certification in big data analysis (which is based entirely on statistics).

Geography

Physical Science

As a teacher at an online school for the past 12 years, I have tutored dozens of students in Physical Science, Physics and Chemistry. Physical Science, a combination of the basics of Physics and Chemistry, is one of my favorite subjects to teach/tutor, because it touches on many important topics in Physics and Chemistry.

Probability

I have taught and tutored Probability for the past 12 years, and have also used it during my career. I aced it in college, and it's one of my best subjects.

Electrical Engineering

My qualifications are that I hold a BSEE and MSEE from MIT. I have worked for 35 years as an engineer or in engineering companies. Areas of expertise include basic electronics, circuit theory, logic, transistor theory, active circuits, microprocessors, communications, semiconductors, power supplies, A/Ds and discretes.
