I have taught beginning piano classes both privately to young (6- and 7-year-old) children and as part of an 8th-grade curriculum. I have taught basic musicianship to children and adults across many settings. I use the Music Moves curriculum by Marilyn Lowe to teach functional musicianship along with useful and rewarding piano technique.
I help people to articulate how they want their singing to sound and then to assess their own progress toward that sound along with me. Every singer can produce a sound pleasing to him or to her and can enjoy the process of doing so. Whether trying to improve sight reading or trying to learn to sing in a particular style, any singer must develop the "mind's ear" to imagine the desired sound and then works to build habits of appropriate jaw, lip, and tongue positions and breath management. The goal is to maximize both the proficiency and the enjoyment of the singing!
