I'm Jeff! I graduated from RPI with my Bachelors and Masters in Computer and Systems Engineering. One of the most important thing I learned at RPI was how to quickly pick up a new skill. Myself and my classmates would have to quickly teach ourselves and each other to keep up with the intense course requirements. Now as someone who has spent a few years in the software industry I really understand the importance of mentorship and teaching. I have needed to pick up new languages and begin usi... [more]
I have spent several years using C/C++ in an academic setting. At RPI my CS1, Data Structures, and Algorithims courses were all taught in C++. Other courses included Operating Systems and Network Programming which involved using C/C++ with a level of control much closer to the hardware level. I have also done a bit of Arduino programming, creating a line following robot and a device to expel hot air from a car based on digital thermometer readings, which was done in C/C++.
I received a dual BS in Computer Engineering and Computer Science from RPI, as well as an MEng in CE. I have received job offers from multiple tech companies, which requires a deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals. I work as a programmer professionally.
During my time at RPI I used MATLAB in a number of different courses. In one course I used MATLAB as a tool to help with electronic signal analysis. I also worked with a group to take an open source MATLAB facial recognition tool and add clustering around medoid analysis to improve results. This was all on top of the basic use of MATLAB to help with matrix manipulation and multiplication in our statics course.
