I have a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and I am incredibly passionate about the field. I completed coursework in a wide range of sociological topics, from sex and gender to global environmental issues, deviant behavior, sociological theory, criminology and more. In addition to high grades I also received a departmental award in Health, Human Service and Social Justice because of academic achievement, skills in research and writing, and dedication to making positive community change. I am currently working in Cuyahoga County middle and high schools facilitating health educational programming. We teach pregnancy prevention, sexual assault prevention, healthy relationships and communication, all of which fall under the field of Public Health. Because I work in schools facilitating this programming I am confident in my ability to help students understand difficult subject matter in a way that feels relevant to them. During the duration of my degree I also completed an internship with a local nonpartisan think tank focused on solutions to health, social and economic issues. This experience gave me real-world insight into how the field of Sociology can make a positive difference in communities. I also conducted several research projects including a program analysis on Medicaid education, survey analysis on types of health education and a content analysis on university sexual assault policy. Because of this experience I could help students with critical writing skills and skills in conducting professional academic research (finding peer-reviewed sources, constructing and organizing arguments, providing factual support, etc.).
