STEM Tutoring Made Easy

I am a senior Electrical Engineering major with more than 3 years of experience, tutoring every level of mathematics from basic counting to vector calculus. Additionally, I have two years of experience tutoring physics and programming coursework. In the modern world today, knowledge truly is power and students must work harder than ever to understand concepts. As a lifelong learner, I love the effort involved in understanding and mastering a concept or subject. It is thoroughly rewarding, and... [more]

Algebra 1

As a senior student and interning electrical engineer, Algebra is a fundamental base of nearly everything in engineering and physics. I have 3+ years experience tutoring Algebra I, II, and Pre-Algebra at my junior college and high school. The main reason for a student struggling in algebra is usually a lack of practice in basic mathematics. It's important for students to NOT procrastinate. Understanding algebra involves more than just learning the subject: it involves learning a unique (and useful) way of thinking.

Algebra 2

As a senior student and interning electrical engineer, Algebra is a fundamental base of nearly everything in engineering and physics. I have 3+ years experience tutoring Algebra I, II, and Pre-Algebra at my junior college and high school. The main reason for a student struggling in algebra is usually a lack of practice in basic mathematics. It's important for students to NOT procrastinate. Understanding algebra involves more than just learning the subject: it involves learning a unique (and useful) way of thinking.

Calculus

As a senior student and interning electrical engineer, I have firsthand experience using Calculus: both in direct engineering applications and theoretical concepts. Additionally, I have 3+ years experience tutoring Calculus and Pre-calculus at my junior college and current College, California State University Long Beach. The best approach to teaching calculus is to illustrate its applications, beginning by teaching the reasons behind its development. Despite its popular opinion of being a difficult branch of mathematics, the main concepts behind Calculus are really quite simple and beautiful.

Physics

I've been tutoring undergraduate physics for about 3+ years at my current university, CSULB, and at my junior college. My primary tutoring experience is in introductory, calculus-based physics courses such as Mechanics or Electromagnetism. However, I have also tutored introductory quantum mechanics/Light (usually 3rd semester of calculus-based physics). I also have extensive experience tutoring Algebra-based/conceptual physics courses.

SAT Math

As a senior student and interning electrical engineer, mathematics is a fundamental base of nearly everything in engineering and physics. I have 3+ years experience tutoring Algebra I, II, and Pre-Algebra at my junior college and high school. The main reason for a student struggling in any particular field of mathematics is usually a lack of practice in a foundational or prerequisite mathematics course. SAT mathematics usually covers through Geometry/Trigonometry, including basic operations, graphing, pre-algebra, algebra. The student should have a thorough understanding of order of operations, conic sections, systems of equations, polynomial equations, and graphing techniques.

Computer Programming

Computer Programming is an invaluable skill in any modern STEM field. As an aspiring full-time electrical engineer and current undergraduate intern, creating simplistic and organized code facilitates better project design overall. Bill Gates said that everyone should learn how to code because it teaches you how to think; I could not agree more. Logical thinking and working through concepts often takes time, but it ensures consistently accurate results. Computer Programming is the best application of this type of thinking today, and its wide-ranging use and applications make it a worthwhile skill to learn.

MATLAB

I have extensive experience with MATLAB simulation design and integration, including general programming, Graphical User Interface (GUI) design, and system modeling in Simulink. Particular experience in electrical engineering: control, communication, and power systems.

Finite Math

Finite Math encompasses basic/intermediate math excepting calculus: probability, statistics, matrices, algebra, logic, etc. I have taken advanced coursework in stochastic modeling and random processes, covering undergraduate statistics/probability courses fully. In addition, I have taken linear algebra, digital logic design, and discrete math coursework: all of which incorporate and expand on basic finite math concepts, including real-world applications.
