Two years of anthropology courses taken at the undergraduate level including social anthropology. My specialization is in biological or physical anthropology in which I have a Masters. I have also supervised a series of anthropology undergraduates in the excavation of an Anglo-Saxon cemetery.
I have taken courses in archaeological theory, historical archaeological and regional archaeology. I have attended several field schools and gone on to be an excavation supervisor at another one. I have excavated in the United Kingdom and Turkey.

In order to understand the period known as Late Antiquity, I had to have a solid grounding in classical history and languages. I have supplemented by love of classics with several visits to Greece and Italy to see the physical remains of these civilizations.
