I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California. I am passionate about tutoring, and enjoy helping students understand complicated concepts and achieve their academic goals. I believe in understanding material rather than memorizing it, and work to ensure that my students have a strong grasp on new topics. My knowledge of biology is broad, and I have experience in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, anatomy, p... [more]
I conducted a 2-year independent research project evaluating the efficacy of cas9 in enriching a gene target, MECP2. Using cas9 for enrichment will allow the DNA to remain double stranded, which is necessary for a new sequencing method we will be using to study the MECP2 gene. Rett Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by mutations in the MECP2 gene, and this new, highly accurate sequencing method will allow us to better understand the genetic cause of Rett Syndrome.
