Experienced Math + Science Tutor

Hi, I'm Ellie! I graduated from the University of Denver in 2018 with a BA in Physics and a BA in Gender and Women's Studies with honors distinction. I have many years of experience in tutoring folks of all ages and all subject materials, but my specialties include mathematics (through calculus: differentials, integrals, and multi-variable), science, writing, and test preparation for middle and high schoolers. Until I was a senior in high school, I struggled greatly in math. I was put in ... [more]

Algebra 1

In June of 2018, I graduated with a BA in Physics and a minor in Mathematics, including demonstrating proficiency in Algebra 1. However, until I was a senior in high school, I struggled greatly in math. I was put in the "lower achieving" mathematics classes since elementary school, and it profoundly affected the way I viewed my confidence and performance in math. I know how it feels to struggle and fall behind at an important subject in school, particularly how nerve-wracking it can be! Because I spent so many years in school struggling as I did, I am better equipped to help others who are also struggling achieve their goals.

Physics

I graduated from the University of Denver in 2018 with a BA in Physics and a BA in Gender and Women's Studies with honors distinction. During my last two years at the University of Denver, I was a Learning Assistant (an undergraduate assistant to the Teaching Assistant). I helped run labs and workshops for underclassmen physics students, explaining difficult concepts, and assisting in tutorial problems. I am well-versed in helping students, especially those that aren't particularly passionate about physics, understand difficult concepts through creative learning methods.

Writing

Because of my dual degree, I am proficient in writing both scientifically (lab reports, research papers) and academically (essays, theses, research projects). Over the years, I've proofread many of my friends' essays at various writing levels. I can help organize, structure, and compile your ideas to perfect your piece!

ACT English

I have done an extensive amount of writing as a GWST major at DU. My honors thesis took six months to write and topped nearly forty pages. Besides for that final project, I wrote numerous smaller essays in GWST (2-15 pages) and lab reports for physics. Because of my dual degree, I am proficient in writing both scientifically (lab reports, research papers) and academically (essays, theses, research projects). Over the years, I've proofread many of my friends' essays at various writing levels. I can help organize, structure, and compile your ideas to perfect your piece, including for the ACT English!
